About the Department

The Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine, AIIMS Gorakhpur, started on 05-11-2022 with only basic emergency services.
At present, the department is running an Emergency unit with 24 beds and 20 recovery trolleys, catering to all kinds of patients.
In addition, Trauma OT, an ICU with 6 beds, and a 45-bedded IPD have also been established under the Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine.

The department has also started an academic Postgraduate Course in Emergency Medicine with an intake of 2 seats per session.

Future Plans

• Proposal for establishing a Centre of Excellence for Traumatology and Critical Care is under process.
• Extension of ICU capacity from 6 beds to 15 beds is also being proposed.
