INTRODUCTION
The Department of Gastroenterology at AIIMS Gorakhpur was established in September 2024, with the vision to provide excellent patient care services in the region, create qualified gastroenterologists for the country, provide quality education, and conduct advanced research in the field of Gastroenterology.
FACILITIES
1. Out-patient services (Monday, Wednesday and Friday)
2. Endoscopic services
Diagnostic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
Therapeutic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy including endoscopic management of patients with Gastrointestinal bleeding, esophageal stricture dilatations, and polypectomies.
GOALS

Short Term
- Start academic program in Gastroenterology (DM Gastroenterology).
- Establish inpatient services, set up and expand advanced therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP, EUS (diagnostic and therapeutic), third space endoscopy, and set up GI physiology lab (Manometry and pH metry).
- Start specialty clinics in various sup-specialties of Gastroenterology .

- Sustain quality patient care (outpatient and inpatient) in Gastroenterology.
- Provide training to create leaders in the field of Gastroenterology .
- Conduct high quality research in Gastroenterology .
- Facilitate public health initiatives to create awareness on preventive health care in Gastroenterology .
