About the Department

The Department of Dentistry at AIIMS Gorakhpur began its journey in 2019 with a single dental chair and a commitment to serve the oral health needs of the region. Over the years, it has grown significantly and now houses a six-chair dental facility, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in 2024, along with a world-class digital X-ray facility.

Its mission is to provide the highest quality dental treatment, impart evidence-based education to future professionals, and promote cutting-edge research. The department aims to address regional oral health challenges, raise public awareness, and contribute meaningfully to national oral health outcomes.

With a focus on patient care, academic excellence, and translational research, the department strives to be a centre of excellence in dental sciences in the country.

Currently Available Services

The Department of Dentistry at AIIMS Gorakhpur currently provides comprehensive Outpatient (OPD) services, catering to a wide range of dental conditions through daily consultations and procedures. Complex dental and oro-facial cases, along with maxillofacial injury cases, are regularly managed through inpatient (IPD) admissions.

Diagnostic services include state-of-the-art digital radiography and intraoral imaging to support accurate clinical decision-making. The department also plays a vital role in dental education and training, offering clinical exposure and learning opportunities to the residents working in the department.

Additionally, it is engaged in community outreach programs, conducting dental screening camps and oral health awareness drives in rural and underserved populations to promote preventive oral health care.

Courses Offered

Currently, the Department of Dentistry contributes to the MBBS curriculum by imparting foundational knowledge and clinical training in oral health. The department plans to expand its academic portfolio in the future by introducing dental specialty courses, further enhancing its role in professional education and research.
