INTRODUCTION
The department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology was started in January 2020. The primary objective of the department is to impart the legal knowledge through teaching and training of MBBS and nursing students. This shall enable future medical/paramedical professionals to perform their medico-legal duties in a proper manner. The department also aids the Judiciary and the investigating agencies for the administration of justice.
Currently,the department has three faculty members.
FACILITIES
- Medico-legal autopsies
- Cold storage facilities for the dead bodies
- Clinical Forensic Medicine services which include age estimation, examination of cases of sexual offences, injury certificate, etc.






















GOALS
- To produce competent medical/paramedical professionals through traditional and innovative teaching methods
- To become a centre of excellence for providing comprehensive medico-legal services that include autopsies and clinical forensic medicine work
- To gain excellence in the field of research related to the speciality
FUTURE VISION
- Providing Virtopsy Services
- Setup Poison Information Centre (PIC)
- Start MD course in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology
- Set up One Stop Crisis Centre to support women affected by violence
- Conduct Training session for Police, Judicial and Medical Officers
