Transfusion Medicine
Dr. Saurabh Murti
Associate Professor
About the Department
The Department of Transfusion Medicine was established with the goal of delivering safe, timely, and
evidence-based transfusion services to meet the clinical needs of patients across specialties.
The department plays a pivotal role in patient care by providing quality-assured blood components,
advanced apheresis procedures, and diagnostic services critical for haematological and immunological management.
The department received its license on 02 February 2024, and commenced full operations on
04 March 2024, following an inauguration ceremony graced by the Honourable Chief Minister
of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath. At inception, the department was licensed for both
blood component preparation and apheresis procedures, forming the backbone of modern transfusion practices.
It is one of the few Blood Centres among the AIIMS in the country to start with
100% Leukofiltered blood component preparation.
